205Live & Mixed Match Challenge Update

205Live Review

On this weeks 205Live, we got a video package of highlights from last week, pointing out that tonight’s two semi-finalists have both beaten former champs to get to this point of the competition.

Our first match was Hideo Itami and Akira Tozawa Vs. Lince Dorado and Gran Metalik accompanied by Kallisto. I’m sure these tags are leading to the rumored Cruiserweight Tag Team Championships, but think they should wrap up the current tournament first before revealing the belts. This was a fast paced match as expected and ended after Lince tweaked his knee allowing the opponents to go in for the win, following a GTS/Eat DeeFeet combo.

Next up Gentleman Jack Gallagher went one on one with Murphy Myers. General Manager Drake Maverick was on commentary, causing Gallagher to show more interest in scowling at him, which nearly cost him the match as Myers snuck in but was greeted with a swift, match-ending headbutt.

In the main event, we were treated to an excellent match from two all round great performers, Roderick Strong and Cedrick Alexander.

The match saw both sides desperately clawing for that spot in the finals, with Cedric managing to reverse the End of Heartache into a roll-up for the win. An emotional Strong left the ring to chants of you deserve it. Cedric Alexander is advancing through to the championship match.
This semi-final match was, in my opinion, the best match of the tournament so far.

Next week we will see the second semi-final match between Drew Gulak and Mustafa Ali. I really can’t decide who I think will or should win this as both have been great so far and I’m enjoying watching Ali building his character up with social media videos, whilst Drew Gulak has returned to his ruthless demeanour we got to see in the Cruiserweight Classic Tournament, a far cry from his ‘no-fly zones’ or PowerPoint presentations. This should be as good as tonight’s semi-final match was. I would be happy to see either man win and go on to face Cedric Alexander in the finals.

Check back next week for another update on 205Live and to find out who will be our other finalist for the Cruiserweight Championship match at WrestleMania on April 8th.

Mixed Match Challenge: Week 9

This week on WWE’s Mixed Match Challenge tournament, we got to see ‘The Robe Warriors’, Charlotte Flair and Bobby Roode Vs. Rusev and Lana.
The entertainment started before the bell had even rung, with a ‘glorious’ entrance by Bobby and Charlotte follows by Rusev trying to fire up Lana on their way to the ring, the two teams went back and forth in a pushing match which turned to fists, and the match got underway. A solid performance from both sides, yet as expected Charlotte and Bobby pulled off the win, sending Rusev and Lana crashing out of the competition and ‘The Robe Warriors’ moving forward.

They now enter the semi-finals, where they will face a ‘2nd Chance Fan Vote’ team in week 11, who have already dropped out of the competition. I would be interested to see Sasha Banks and Finn Balor back together, Elias and Bayley or Big E and Carmella.

I wonder if Carmella would try cashing in on Bliss should they end up against each other and Braun is somehow unable to protect Bliss, as Carmella could get herself disqualified hitting Alexa with the briefcase and then cash in, although As previously stated I don’t think Braun will allow this to take place.

Next week we will see Braun Strowman and Alexa Bliss take on the Miz and Asuka, in what I expect to be a fun match. I am really enjoying the concept of the show and how it has been done so far and hope the rest of the tournament goes as well as it has been.

Check back next week for another 205Live and Mixed Match Challenge update.
