WrestleMania Preview: AJ Styles (c) v. Shinsuke Nakamura

In just two days, fans all over the world will be treated to the spectacle that is AJ Styles versus Shinsuke Nakamura. WrestleMania 34 won’t be the first meeting between the two though. At Wrestle Kingdom 10 inside the Tokyo Dome, Styles and Nakamura tore the house down. Both have made their way to the WWE and the collision course will finally come to a head on Sunday night.

AJ came into the WWE like a ball of fire. There have been very few moments during his run where he didn’t feel like a big deal. Nakamura, on the other hand, hasn’t had the same rocket strapped to his back. Though a nice NXT run started Shinsuke’s WWE tenure, a lackluster main roster stay has tarnished that luster.

Styles has been a multi-time WWE Champion, multi-time US Champion, and has found himself involved in major storylines since day one. This year will be no different when a familiar foe has risen to the occasion. In a match that felt like it may never happen, earlier this year Nakamura took his shot.

Entering his first Royal Rumble and winning the match guaranteed Nakamura a WWE Championship match at WrestleMania 34. After getting his hand raised in victory he would instantly shoot his shot and call out Styles. Soon after the Rumble would be a SmackDown Live exclusive event, Fastlane. Styles would be defending his WWE Championship in a Six-Pack Challenge. If he retains, then his ticket to Mania is booked and he’ll have a date with Nakamura.

The stars all aligned how they needed to and Styles walked out of Fastlane as the WWE Champion. The next big date on the calendar would be April 8th, WrestleMania. So as Sunday inches closer and closer the excitement around Styles and Nakamura is growing massively. For the casual fan it may not have had the greatest story on TV leading to the match, but it’s 2018, go online and do a quick youtube search and watch their first match. It’s the only build-up you should need as a fan.

On Sunday night AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura have the opportunity to stamp their names on the “Match of the Year” trophy. Knowing what they did at Wrestle Kingdom 10, anyone having to follow them will have a major challenge.
