Is The Best Kept Secret 205 Live’s Hottest Commodity?

205 Live—formerly the purgatory of WWE programming—has undergone a resurgence since Triple H was granted control of the brand at the beginning of the year.

This shift has resulted in a noticeable match quality and presentation improvement. It has also given previously underutilized talent a second chance at stardom.

Enter: Buddy Murphy.

Buddy Murphy—best known as one half of former NXT Tag Team Championship winning duo Blake & Murphy—spent the majority of the last couple years on the losing end of his rare NXT matches.

As a result of the constant flow of world-class talent making their way onto the NXT roster, the likelihood of Buddy Murphy getting a chance to shine on his own dwindled dramatically.

With 205 Live’s change in direction, Buddy Murphy has emerged as a surprise beneficiary. Following his impressive double-digit weight drop, he has put on captivating matches with the likes of Mustafa Ali and Kalisto.

Having the ability to showcase his intensity and underrated agility in lieu of getting demolished by insert recent big-name NXT signing here, “The Best Kept Secret” is quickly becoming less of a secret as time passes.

The finals of the Cruiserweight Championship tournament are set to be between Cedric Alexander and Mustafa Ali. However, Buddy Murphy has not only been having match-of-the-night performances on a weekly basis but also winning them. If his momentum persists beyond Wrestlemania, 205 Live may have a future Cruiserweight champion and a cornerstone on their hands.

  1. Nice article. Been nice to see Murphy back on TV I have been waiting for it for a good year now. any reports from NXT live events had Murphy in match of the year candidates so it’s good to see that play out on TV. Hopefully he’s Cruiserweight Champion by Summerslam
