Earlier today, New Japan announced that they have come to an agreement with current IWGP Junior Champion Hiromu Takahashi to relinquish the title while he recovers from a neck injury.
It was then promoted that four of the top performers from this year’s Best of the Super Juniors would face off in a three-night tournament to crown a new champion. The four men involved have also all been former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champions.
The first match will pit the face of the Junior division, Kushida against LIJ powerhouse Bushi. They will face off at Destruction on September 23rd, at the famed Kobe World Hall. The second match will see longtime rivals and British standouts Will Ospreay and Marty Scurll lock horns once again, at the Fighting Spirit Unleashed event on September 30th in Long Beach, California.
The finals are scheduled for the October 8th, King of Pro Wrestling event from the legendary Sumo Hall.
